Mali (Full name Maliana R'Konde Darksidhe) was orphaned as a baby, found on the doorstep of a Hellsguard's abode. Bolstwyf Darksidhe, having yet to marry and have children of his own, took in the Miqo'te as his own child out of sympathy. While he would soon after marry and have children of his own, Mali remained and was well-loved by her ever-growing adoptive family.

While Mali and her siblings were still young, their father became obsessed with what his late grandfather called their "ancient familial abode," a land far off to the sea where the Darksidhes were once great rulers. Bolstwyf became convinced that their ancient abode lay somewhere in Eorzea. Unfortunately, increasingly failing health prevented him from traveling there on his own.

Mali, Meanwhile, was equally curious of Eorzea. Her adoptive father spoke of little else, and her young mind thought that perhaps she would find answers to her own heritage across the sea as well.

When Mali came of age, Bolstwyf's ailments finally took their final toll on him. While her mother and siblings grieved, Mali packed what she could and set sail on the first available ship to Eorzea's Limsa Lominsa. She would carry on her father's dream, and perhaps find answers of her own as well.

Mali is ever the curious one, which is just as well as she knows next to nothing about her new surroundings save for the wild stories her father told. Her odd upbringing has given her the stoicism and loyalty of the hellsguard, and the tenacity and passion of the Miqo'te. She is terrible at making friends, but she means well.
