I must admit, I used to think that becoming an adventurer was never written in my stars. Like many families in Limsa Lomina, ours had suffered from the abolition of piracy. My father tried to adapt but it did not take long before the sirens called him back and he joined a group of outlawed pirates. My mother's only talent of worth was found in the kitchen. Life was hard because food orders from the Bismarck did not come very often. So I started to roam the streets of Limsa looking for opportunities while my sisters helped in the kitchen. Things took a turn for the worse when my father suddenly came back around my 12th birthday and took my two older sisters with him. Tightened security from the Yellowjackets made it harder for him to sneak back into the city. I begged him to take me along, but he still saw me as a weak and stubborn boy who's too soft to become a corsair. As such, life with only my mother and my littlest sister started. My aging mother was getting weaker by the day and could not spend as much time at the stoves. I had to earn more to keep what's left of my family fed and alive.
The streets became my hunting ground. I dabbled in stevedoring, petty thievery, street gambling and so on. At first, my mother would be dead worried of seeing me come home each day with a new dark bruise. But day by day, they numbered less as I started mastering the weapon that is my fists. My monk soulstone is filled with memories of those chaotic days. By my 16th birthday, the advantages of being a Miqo’te Seekers of the Sun started to become more apparent. Those four years spent fighting, fleeing, lifting crates, had given me a ripped physique and wiry muscles. These developments, combined with my even tan and my strikingly chiseled features, earned the notice of no few women and men. By gallivanting the streets of Limsa I soon found out I could make a lot of gil, fast, hence I started selling my charms to the highest bidders.
It was an Uldhan Highlander, originally hailing from Ala Mhigo, who made drastic changes to this lifestyle of mine. After months of buying the pleasures that only I could offer him at each of his visits, he found me one night fighting with two Yellowjackets. It was the first time he saw me fight and according to him, he saw in the speed of my fists the hand of Rhalgr, the Destroyer Himself. He convinced me that I would be a perfect candidate to work at the Pugilists’ Guild. While tempting, it all felt so far and out of reach. My littlest sister, seeing me learn all I could about this God of foreign lands, gave me the final push by swearing they would be alright as she handed me a ticket for an airship ride to the Jewel of Thanalan.
This is how my journey as an adventurer began and where my eternal gratitude for Rhalgr and his people, was born. Once my pugilist training concluded, I decided to go back to fair Limsa to be closer to my family. I then joined in the Marauders’ Guild, where my destiny as the Warrior of Light began.
