She was born into the U Tribe of Miqo'te. Her biological father was someone who had a relationship with her mother behind the back of the tribe's leader and because of this he was expelled from the tribe and was never heard from again. U'traci and her mother were allowed to remain members of the tribe on the condition that she take the last name of the tribe's leader and not of her father.

As she developed into a woman U'traci grew to resent the tribe's traditions because they took away her father and she always refused to take part in them as a result. Her mother still lives with her tribe in the region of Southern Thanalan and while U'traci visits her occasionally she doesn't participate in the tribe's daily life. Instead she left the tribe's desert home and headed for the nearby city of Ul'dah when she came of age.

Her adventuring in the city was eventually noticed by organizations such as the Immortal Flames and the Scions of the Seventh Dawn who soon recruited her to their cause of protecting the realm of Eorzea. Since joining these organizations she has been successful in defending not only Eorzea on many occasions but also Etheirys itself.
