My name is Anthony and I am one of those losers that you see who only works and plays MMO's. Kind of a substitute for real life if ya know what I mean. Typical no-life computer geek. When I'm not playing FF14 I work at the Home Depot selling appliances. Been there for 5 years now. It's an OK place to work as far as retail goes. Hey, at least it's not Wal-Mart...
I'm starting this game after divorcing myself from a 4 year marriage to FF11. I kind of did not want to leave, because I had so much time invested into it. But I kind of feel I had accomplished everything that I would ever be able to reasonably accomplish, and that there wasn't much else for me to do in that game. When they started raising the level cap and stuff I felt it would really throw the game out of balance and that it was kind of a "last hurrah" before they moved to discontinue support for it. I have too many good memories of that game to watch that happen so I figured I would leave sometime before that happened.
When I got picked for the FF14 alpha test first wave, I figured that was as good a time as any to go. So I left. I do think about that game pretty often and remember the fun times I had, but I don't have any real intention of ever going back. I think it would be too different now anyways.
SE has made a great effort with FF14 and I hope it pans out. The game is pretty fun but they need to do a lot of work to it. Let's hope enough people stick it out while they fix it so that there is still a good player base by the time things get going strong.
