I genuinely want to know. Square Enix doesn't seem to be asking the question themselves so perhaps it's best that the fans do it for them.
Did you log in out of habit? Nothing else to do? Socialise with people you like? Finishing content? Because you genuinely enjoy the game? To keep your house?
Have you been logging in less because you find it boring? You have less time? You hated the Dawnrtrail story and it has left a bitter taste?
It's all too easy to read the replies on Twitter and Facebook, but these might be from people who have never played.
What is XIV doing right? What are they doing wrong? It seems these are questions we're not being directly asked. I've watched my friend list turn into a graveyard, some people I've liked whom I'm likely never to hear from again, and to be honest, it's part of the reason why I find logging into the game to be somewhat disappointing. Forum posts get hijacked, which is why I'm asking here. Anyway, all thoughts are welcome, I'm genuinely interested in what everyone else has to say.
I'll start.
I log in because i want to keep my house, I enjoy the music playing in the background. I used to enjoy collecting new mounts and outfits, but there are so many now that each become "just another mount"
I log in less because fewer people play. The copy/paste patch cycles, it's not as fun as it once was. The attitude of certain staff has really put me off. The MSQ being poor has left me less connected with the game. Playing now feels like a chore more than an adventure.
I logged in today, to get some screen shots of a cs, for my blog. Normally I would login stay logged in and go on an adventure, but real life work was brutal and training the new manager of a different restaurant as part of his integration within the company.
Anyway, today, did not have the mental energy to save the world, or fight bosses as a white mage. But my blog is coming along nicely.
