A Fine Addition - Reaching Heavensward

Public

With the new update looming ever-closer, comes the need for new weapons and so that is what I have set out to do. Having finally saved up the requisite materials and currency, I can now afford the Item Level 490 Crystarium Samurai Blade, and just in time for the update that will see it able to be augmented.

The area of Lakeland, which the Crystarium is situated in, resonates with a sort of "fantasy-medieval-Europe" style which this sword certainly seems to encapsulate. Indeed, from the rustic crest decorating its cross guard to the ornate design of the hilt guard, it resembles more of a saber than it does a samurai sword, though that is not necessarily a bad thing and I applaud a bold attempt at a different design.

However, the chains wrapped around the scabbard do seem a bit much though...
In all, a fine addition to my collection and one whose superior stats will go a long ways to ensuring the acquisition of yet more fine additions still.

And on that subject, a couple more acquisitions have been accounted for.
First is the Ironworks Magitek Samurai Blade and its augmented upgrade.

Forged by the brilliant minds of Garlond Ironworks, this high-tech blade collapses along its length to fit in its smaller sheath, the moving parts reassembling whenever the blade is drawn. The blue LED lights along the blade and scabbard are also a nice touch, as is familiar Ironworks logo emblazoned on the scabbard. It's a trusty blade that will see you through the Post-ARR content and even the first couple dungeons in Heavensward.

The Grand Company Captain's Samurai Blade (in this case, the Immortal Flames' Captain's Samurai Blade) is of a fairly simple design, resembling a saber more than it does a samurai sword. But there is an elegance of sorts in simplicity and this blade does well to show that, blending the blue, black, and gold of Ul'dah's Grand Company force into a simple but effective design that Officers of the Immortal Flames can carry with pride.

But before we can begin our grand Heavensward adventure of acquisitioning, there is one last addition to be accounted for. It also happens to be the very first. Simplicity itself, the Mythrite Uchigatana does not have ornate blade decorations or a mesmerizing pattern along its scabbard; it is instead a simple but valuable companion to the Samurai-in-training as they begin their first steps to becoming a legend.

And into Heavensward, the legend will now continue, with new additions to be acquired.
