Note: I find myself wanting to express my opinions on several topics and I think this is the place to be. My opinions are personal thoughts (and are not a critique), which I am not claiming to be right nor wrong. I am not expecting comments, otherwise I would have went to the official forum. In the event that there would be, I honor and respect everybody else’s opinion, though I’d prefer a healthy conversation over that of a heated debate.
Some Current Opinion(s): SPOILER WARNING
Some FFXIV players would like to experience high impact consequences for contents where the player is given choices.
Rasler’s Opinion:
For some time, when the game present you with choices, it doesn’t really give you a different result or impact. You know when Papalymo asked you to get on a ship at the end of Heavenward? You get to choose to leave or stay with him. The recent Bozja story quest, of whether you will grant the request of the villain or not. The impact is minimal but at the end of the day you will end up in the same situation. It is understandable as this is an MMORPG. It has to be the same experience for each player playing moving forward.
So in the recent Make it Rain Event, you can have three different endings. True, any of those endings will not make any difference to the main story but this makes the content actually provide different endings.
I got the worst ending my first turn. I tried finding as many of the clues the next time around and got the ok ending. With the help of an FC mate, who told me what to do I was finally able to get the best ending. The difference in this content is I could really have just stopped after getting the bad ending. The player finally got a choice with significant impact to the story, even if it is just a side story.
I’d take this option rather than nothing, so it is a welcome change. I just had a difficult time getting the good ending but then again isn’t that supposed to be what video game should do? You have to work hard for a satisfying experience.
