Reni learned from a very young age that the people who are supposed to protect you will instead tear you down. Her parents subjected her to years of severe emotional abuse, eroding her self-worth before ultimately abandoning her. This taught Reni a toxic fundamental rule: Even unconditional love is a lie.

Desperate for the affection she lacked in childhood, Reni's younger years were defined by a string of romantic relationships. Every single one ended in devastating betrayal. She was used, lied to, and cast aside by those she opened her heart to. Today, she views romantic vulnerability as a mathematical guarantee of pain.

Reni is deeply, painfully lonely, but she is terrified of being hurt again. She proactively pushes people away, testing their boundaries by being difficult or cold. It is a defense mechanism: if they leave because she's harsh, she can tell herself she was right all along. However, if someone has the immense patience to climb her walls, they will find a woman of unshakeable, fierce loyalty. If Reni trusts you, she will burn the world down to keep you safe.

My desire to master Black Magic is because Fire, Ice, and Lightning are volatile, destructive, and absolute. Unlike people, standard laws of aether don't lie or betray. When I cast, I am in total control. The dangerous, forbidden nature of the art perfectly mirrors my internal state: isolated, volatile, and terrifying to outsiders.
