Can't log in. Who cares?

I've been really patient with all of FFXIV's problems thusfar, and honestly that patience isn't coming near an end. It's inconvenient I can't log in all the time, but Yoshi-P having stated they are working on a long-term solution is enough for me for now. We've already been assured 3 free days, I can't complain much.
What is frustrating is the amount of babies who have obviously never dealt with a big MMO launch before, who cry for refunds.
I'm not saying Square Enix have handled this launch well (they should have put up more servers immediately in early access, it was clear then that launch would be a disaster), but acting like a baby only says that you are not the type for this slower style of game anyway. Please exit right, and don't let the door slam you in the ass on the way out. (On second thought, I hope it does hit you and you get splinters.)
What we have here is a game that is enchanting and full of things to do, but is by no means perfect as the log in issues prove. Playing the game is fun in its own right, but some aspects need some serious quality of life changes.
For example, inventory sorting is something that desperately needs to be worked on (the menu toggle is awful) and the AOE ability lag needs to be fixed. These are just two things out of many aspects of XIV that need some work, and the longer they are stuck with these server issues the longer these in-game problems will remain without being addressed.
I love this game. I love the people who play this game. But it needs some work, and that is something you can never expect from initial release.
I'm stubborn. Even with all the connection problems and world being full, i keep stubbornly spamming that num 0 button in hopes of getting in, regardless if it takes me 2 hours straight ~-~

I agree they've apologised and said they're going to sort it next week, i can wait easily for a game this amazing. :D
+1, do something else you guys that complain that the game is off, it will come back. What did you do before FFXIV? Its annoying reading this 420 once servers are having problems.

I'm just sad I can't log into my favorite game after beating my head against the 1017 for 30+ min. :(
seriously it's frustrating enough to make me want to cry, and i'm a grown man.
I just hope it gets sorted soon rather than later.
For me it's the X button I keep spamming... LOL but I don't agree. It's annoying yes but what mmo doesn't have problems at launch.
I've never dealt with an MMO launch before. T'was my first beta and launch experience. But from what I've heard, it's all pretty much the same.
Having played mmos since 1997, I think I have a pretty good idea of game launches. In modern day mmos I haven't come across such a disastrous launch as this. You may think we "whine", and "cry"...but some of us happen to have real lives and children and families, and can only log on at a particular time....when we find we are unable to log on, that's it for the day. Frustrating? yes VERY. Yes the game is enchanting, when you can get into it!!!
I can't expect that I should be able to play the game a week after release when its industry standard to have the issue addressed and fixed promptly?
I've been in TERA, XIV's 1.0, and at the least, two other major games. Three free days is a slap in the face, I'm glad, but this is pretty shitty. You can't even make characters on the NA server now, because they blocked all worlds with their new post. Kiss ass if you want, this isn't necessary. This is Square Enix, Sony Entertainment did better with Dragon's Prophet than this.
Instead of getting frustrated with the game. I have simply come to terms that I absolutely will not be able to play during daytime hours. Of course that doesn't keep me from trying, but if i get 1017, I simply walk away and do something else.
No offence but I've seen big MMO launches and small MMO launches and quite a few of both this is not amongst the best I've seen...
I love the game even played 1.0 quite a bit but this looks like a repeat of their first run...
A long term solution should of been implemented in beta, not a week into live. Worse launch of an MMO in a long time
I don't see how you can call this game a failure. Why? Because EVERYONE is clamoring to get a piece of the action. The game is crack, and SE the crack dealer. They limited the supply and keeping us wanting more, waiting for sweet release.
When I am paying a monthly fee for a product I expect it to work all but maybe once a week for maintenance if the product does not work then what am I paying for. Every night this week the times I have had time to play after work I have not been able to because of my server being full. Charging someone for something that does not work is not right under any circumstance.
It's funny, I was just ranting to my SO about exactly this topic.
As a positive note, I saw in the forums that the developers are working on inventory sorting and seem to have it mostly done.
lol how does it hurt anyone to read complaints? i dont mind all this mess too much honestly, but if we want the complainers to have more patience, we should have some patience with the "complainers" as well. after all, they are paying for this product too. besides, how much could it hurt us if SE gave us all some free stuff?

The GAME isn't the problem. The SERVICE is the problem. This shouldn't have been this bad, from beta testing to early release, and now it's basically unplayable. Especially if you just bought it, shit out of luck. Terrible service on the NA side.
While you raise a lot of valid points I think it is healthy to vent when one is frustrated ... people should get things out of their system. No matter how silly or strange or OMG LOL it may seem to the rest of us.
I've been in a lot of alphas, betas and launches of games... and this one isn't going so well, if I may be honest. Sure it's gonna take time ... but the clock is ticking for SE with this launch.
Especially since you can't make any new characters on any of the worlds pretty much. I'd like two character world transfers please.~
