Your opinion VS mine (attributes)
Public
I had a heated topic on attributes with SCH and SMN with a few free company mates. Someone asked what attribute they should focus more on with the SCH job. I told them put most on mind and some in piety if your going strictly SCH. Then my FC leader says no put all your points in mind for pure heals. I'm thinking "what!? No way don't do that"
I told him you need a little bit of mana to use your healing spells so having a little more piety doesn't hurt. My FC leader says no SCH has aether flow to replenish MP. Which is true but you can't rely on aether flow alone to recover lost MP. I believe it's good to have as much MP as possible. Lets say your in a tough battle and everyone is dieing and you need to revive the fallen. Resurrection spell cost almost 800 MP just to revive ONE player. That's a lot of MP used. Not only that let's say your using lustrate and sacred soil to quickly heal lost HP and protect the group from an up coming attack those two spells, energy drain, and bane uses a stack from your aether flow buff. If your using those spells frequently in battle I'm sure you have to wait until aether flow gets off of a cool down to use it again to replenish lost MP back. I just find it silly to ignore the piety stat and going straight mind for pure healing.
Most importantly what really ticked me off was my FC leader was trying to enforce his opinion on me and the other player who was asking for help with SCH. The one thing that bugs me the most is some self absorbed a**hole telling me how to play this game. I have nothing against my FC leader but I certainly didn't like they way he gave his opinion on stat allocating for SCH. It sounded like its his way or no way. Really I can careless about others opinion. It all boils down to this. I'm paying for this game monthly, it's MY character, and so I can play this game how ever I damn well please. Now you can disagree with me and that's fine, but do not EVER force your opinion on me or others.
I guess I should if said that to my FC leader but things just got heated and other players chimmed in and it got messy real quick. What do you guys think?
I play a SCH. I put 20 in mind, 10 in piety. And unless something goes horribly wrong, like tank let's me get aggro, no one dies around me. So I think you're right on the argument. Especially since you are paying to play, you should be able to play how you want.
Thank you sayence! I would of done the same thing you'd did if I strictly played as a SCH. I play both jobs so I split the attributes 15 mind, 15 IND. it's silly to me buy an item that cost (I believe) 10,000 company seals every single time I want to play as a SCH or SMN. I play those jobs frequently and that method is a waste of seals and my time.
So really I see it as there is no right way on where to put your attribute points.
That's true! I mean unless you put your stats in STR or DEX, I can see people getting upset. But int/mnd is just fine :3
i kind of agree with the fc leader here (he was wrong for tryin to force his opinion yes) but heals either whm or sch should want as much healer power as possible hence stat points to mind mp will be gained from gear and the person playing the class should be able to manage there mp accordingly 95% of the time with out any issues
i main as smn and put all to int my friend that plays with me mains sch and went full mind he is by far one of the best healers i know in the game and he has no mana issues in any instance. if you are having mana issues it's prob because you only have half the stat points in mind and there for you heals are weak do to that fact causing you st have to heal more than needed
Hey shinigami thanks for commenting. I do have 15 points put in mind and in INT. when I play as my SCH I have absolutely no problem managing with my MP in long fights. Sometimes (not all the time) I see a white mage screaming for Madge's balled from a bard for more MP.
To me attribute points do matter to a small degree but when it comes to end game content it comes down to gear and skill. How well you play your role and if you understand your abilities and how to use them.
i do agree with you especially when it comes to how to build your own toon no one should tell you how to do it, give advise with sound reasoning behind it yes and yes.Butto do your job to it's fullest potential you should focus on 1 stat i.e tanks vit, melee str, caster int, and healer mind.
A tank with low hp especially a war wont tank for crap as there cd,s are mostly based off there max hp, melee with low str and caster with low int will have lower dps (making fights last longer and having to deal more phases making it harder for heals to keep going..
heals mind = bigger heals per cast = fewer heals needed = less mp used.. oh and bard is dex for ranged damage.. this is just the ideal set up for end game.. again people should build there toons how they want but this will be of most benefit to raid groups
I see your point shinigami. I guess it is what it is. As long as we're all having fun playing the game that's all that really matters.
agreed :)
