Jilenos Story

Public
Jilenos, a man with tanned skin, golden eyes shimmering like ethereal aggregates of earth, and hair of a brilliant blonde.

Born in the Ruby Sea, he grew up in an underwater village before leaving to live with his father in the Azim Steppe, where he learned to become a Karakul shepherd.
One winter evening, from the top of his hill, he witnessed a battle between the Garlean and a revolutionary faction of Ala Mhigo. After the chaos passed, he waited 2 days to let his curiosity take over, and descended into the smoldering ruins after setting various traps around his flock to protect them from Gulo gulo and other predators of the region.

The closer Jilenos got, the more he felt a distress call deep within him that he couldn't ignore. Under the wreckage of a magitek cannon, he discovered a corpse tightly holding a stone in its hand that seemed to react to the young man's presence. When he touched it, a fairy appeared and he thought he heard "thank you" from the depths of limbo before it disappeared, leaving a broken gem in the cold hand of the soldier.
He also found a travel journal of the crystal's owner, detailing his last moments. Jilenos felt a pang of remorse for not coming down earlier to help the survivors.
Written in blood, Jilenos learned more about the end of the Nym civilization and the fairy's name, despairing at the idea that she would remain trapped in an eternal sleep.
From then on, the young shepherd spent most of his time studying the ancestral arcane arts of the Scholars through the writings, even during his guard duties.
On his 16th birthday, he cast a protective dome spell on his village by putting into practice the geometric modification of the surrounding aether to conceal it from imperial eyes and decided to leave for La Noscea to visit the sunken city of Nym.

During a visit to the remains of the Wanderer's Palace, Jilenos crossed paths with a group of researchers led by Galuf Baldesion, an eminent scientist from Sharlayan whose fame crossed continents. Curious and thirsty for knowledge, Jilenos spent long weeks in their company, captivated by their stories and their work.
Jilenos's fate took an unexpected turn when he sealed a pact with a fairy. At first fortuitous, the encounter with this magical creature occurred during an expedition deep into the ruins of the sunken city. The fairy presented itself to Jilenos when he picked up a deep blue stone.

Later, it was learned that the jewel was an artifact of the Nym scholars containing their knowledge forgotten for over 2000 years and that it had reacted to Jilenos's strange power. It was at this moment that his traveling companions understood that he carried within him a blessing: the one known today as the Echo.
Intrigued by this rare and mysterious gift, Galuf welcomed him as a disciple, seeing in him exceptional potential. Under his advice, Jilenos joined the Sharlayan magic academy, where he immersed himself in the study of arcanima to develop his talents in the military magic of scholars from past times. This ancient knowledge, dating from the fifth astral era, is as powerful as it is demanding. Its strength lies in the art of combining protection and offensive strategy through an arsenal of magical formulas and the help of a healing fairy.

Years later, shortly after receiving honors from his professors at the Sharlayan academy, Jilenos learned of the sudden disappearance of Louisoix Leveilleur. Shaken by this news, he left the Northern Seas to go to Gridania to continue the fight of this hero he admired so much. It was there that he met the Scions of the Seventh Dawn and perfected his healing skills, while arming himself with unwavering determination to protect his allies.
The calm offered by Louisoix's sacrifice was short-lived. Very quickly, the Garlean Empire resumed its march to invade Eorzea. Conflicts raged across the continent, and Jilenos distinguished himself as an outstanding strategist. His meticulously elaborated plans ensured the survival and victory of his faction.
The fairy accompanying him, a spirit as mischievous as it was benevolent, amplified his abilities by providing healing and erecting protective barriers for his comrades. Together, they formed an indomitable force.

But beneath his appearance of a rigorous scholar hid a man passionate about the simple pleasures of life. When the grimoires were closed and the clash of battles faded away, Jilenos loved to indulge in his other passion: cooking.
The aromas of spices and herbs, the comforting warmth of the stoves, were among the rare lightnesses of daily life that managed to make him lift his nose from his books.
Settled in La Noscea, Jilenos found refuge in a small restaurant. Day after day, he saved enough to realize a dream close to his heart: to become the owner of a mansion in the residential district of Gridania, Lavender Beds.

There, he welcomed the members of his elite squad, of which he had once been the commander. In retirement, these former soldiers carried within them the desire to continue serving their leader. This wish transformed into unwavering and precious support for Jilenos during his adventures across the world.

Thus was written the legend of Jilenos, the amber-skinned, golden-eyed Au Ra, master of grimoires and protector of life, whose story continued to resonate like a bard's song in the farthest reaches of Aetherys.
