Random Evil Musing - 3/30/21

Public
Been a week or so since I actually wrote another of these...let's see where this goes.

So my excursions into the depths of Eorzea's dungeons have yielded some interesting results...the revealing of the beings known as the Ascians and their "leader" among them known as Lahabrea; these individuals intrigue me, however they seem to have misinterpreted my efforts; they seem to confuse me as some "Warrior of Light" and that "Hydaleyn" has chosen me to carry out her will...I am familiar with Hydaleyn, however as I have mentioned many times previously, my patron deity does not hail from Eorzea, for he is Gulgotha, God of Death and patron of the craft of Necromancy.

Still, the Ascians seem intent on doing me harm, and forcing their minions against me. A shame; they could have been a useful ally in my efforts to shepherd followers of the Death God here to Eorzea; instead they seek to obstruct. Their self-centeredness will be their downfall should they continue to stand against me, and that of my agenda.

But enough about the Ascians...my travels have taken me to a few different dungeons:

- Sastasha: A series of tide caverns where pirates and various aquatic denizens reside; the pirates were of no consequence to deal with, however the creatures appeared to be more "tempered" as the locals referred to them as; they were attuned to the primal Leviathan, and also seemed to be affiliated with the Sahagin my group encountered deeper within Sastasha. We managed to clear out the dungeon, though it did take quite a bit of effort to bring them all down.

- Tam-Tar Deepcroft: I felt very much at-home here, among the tombs and vaults of the Tam-Tar Deepcroft. The depths of this place reminded me of my earlier years, where I would study among the dead and not only learn about the magics I craved, but also would learn of my affinity when it came to the dead. While the Deepcroft gave me these feelings of familiarity, the beast that lurked at the bottom of the lair was something I had only heard stories about, something that from my homeland you would have only encountered in the Underkingdom. The creature was a powerful "voidsent" as the locals refer to them as, and they used their power to bring forth more voidsent minions to attempt to stop my entourage; we eventually prevailed, and the Deepcroft quieted once more, at least for now. I look forward to coming back here sometime.

- Copperbell Mines: The people of Ul'Dah take pride in their mining operations, especially when it comes to Iron. The Copperbell Mine is the largest iron resource that Ul'Dah has access to; imagine their surprise when giants (yes, giants!) emerged through the tunnels below and began assaulting the workers! I was called into the mines along with more faces from the Adventurer's Guild to rid the mine of the giants below; we were successful in defeating them all, though it seemed that something was...enraging the giants beyond just the fact they had encountered us. They seemed like they were still infuriated from their previous imprisonment, that something driven by and from that was giving them reason to rage even further. Giants are increasingly dangerous when angered, and even more so when they have nothing more to lose.

- Halatali: A large dungeon situated near Camp Drybone on the eastern side of Thanalan, this place had long since been abandoned for its original intent, and was now crawling with vilekin, preying upon anyone foolish enough to venture into the dungeon's halls. At first, all my group encountered was vermin and a few oversized reptiles...it wasn't until we got deeper into the vaults that a number of voidsent revealed themselves as the true masterminds behind this haunt. The creatures possessed strength that was gained by feeding on the anguish of those whom were still left within the dungeon, and it took a mighty effort to lay low the voidsent before we were able to return to Camp Drybone and go over our harrowing tale.

I did explore a few more dungeons in my time away...I will go over my encounters on them in my next musing...let's just say that the beings that have revealed themselves to me have demonstrated that Eorzea has power that has truly intrigued me, and I am hoping at some point that it will yield to me...
