Greetings from the Road.

I hit the MSQs in the face with my shield! I've been spamming the the main story for nearly 3 days now and am amazed at how much and how little progress can be made at the same time! An explanation, hopefully without spoilers.

I started my most recent journey thru the main story by resuming my effort to defeat Leviathan. I had left it there due to the distractions of all the available avenues that open up at level 50. So many things flashed in front of my eyes wanting attention; the excitement and joy of Christmas everyday! Once I got a handle on the all that content and really explored most of it it was time once again to tackle the main story. (It had been glaring at me from its perch in the upper left of my screen!)

I dedicated myself to tanking everything that came along; it was the right call. Thx to Lolo and Enesha for the positive encouragement and tips. I smashed every villain and all their minions with my trusty shield and felt great doing it. Pulling bigger groups until the healer couldn't keep up; actually the only time I died was when the healer decided to go on ahead while I was waiting for a dps to roll some loot (or w/e she was doing standing at a treasure chest, mouth agape.) Snowcloak has no sympathy for healers who pull two packs... Anyroad, we recovered and went on the thwart the Ice Princess and her evil-or-heretical plans(oops lil spoiler there.)

The most visceral, frantic and palm-sweat-inducing fight came at the end of The Keeper of the Lake! Wow what a fight! The floor was covered with rings and spots and lines! Oh my! I was shocked when we made it thru that with with only one casualty (the bard just loved that burning sensation under his feet.)

Anyroad, I watched and nodded (my neck hurts after all that nodding) thru the trials and tribulations of my fellow scions until the Banquet. Spoiler alert! A tremendous swing, and onward towards the heavens.

Of coarse the first thing I did upon reaching Foundation, after scouring the place for all the aetherytes, was turning all the way from light to dark! It was surreal for me, a PLD, to rifle thru the belongings of a corpse looking for dark magic! But there I was throwing down my shield, embracing the Darkness within and going on a killing spree thru the streets of Ishgards capital. After all, I had just sworn to shield our new Patron from any embarrassing situations we might cause. (I don't think I actually killed anyone... they all got up and ran away from my terrible soul-sucking visage.) I have since found my shield and re-equipped my goodboy pants.

Now I'm off to save the world once more; this time without my trusty cabin boy, Alfie. He can be a bit bossy, so I'm happy to be free of him for the time being. I find myself happy to just wander the countryside, slaying any and all monsters that dare approach within the reach of my blade. It's certainly satisfying to be without the terrible burden of heroship and just help any and all who need a letter delivered or some dodo breasts from the local farmers market.
