Well, there goes that account...

Public
The only question is how and when... I knew there was a reason I hadn't bought the expansion yet, and now, it's probably clear that I'm going to lose a second account because I no longer wish to deal with the idiocy, obstruction, and deliberate sandbagging of many of the trolls and kek-cats who populate Final Fantasy XIV.

I'm talking, of course, about the new additions to the Penalty and Prohibited Acts rules.

To those talking on the forums: YES, it IS often quite difficult not to be a jerk or rude to people who:

* Deliberately throw every PvP match because they just want their mogtomes/tomestones/XP, without regard of participation in the event -- there's a simple solution, but SE won't implement it because it'll probably make the trolls worse (Losers Get Zero).

* Turn the housing market into a complete RMT-ladened farce. And if you honestly think 6.1 is going to do any better in that regard with this supposed lottery, perhaps you need to remember the kind of people some of the Square-Enix Community Team have been known to hang with for over a decade now -- I'm looking at you, Order of the Blu Gartr and all that.

The entire point of FFXIV was not to have to gate content behind RMT and account sellers, and it's clear we still have, in this company (and in the game too, when you see the extent Yoshi-P had to go to close the loophole RMT were using to RMT Savage clears in the Party Finder) people who have openly supported RMT, people who have almost certainly profited, in some form, from RMT...

None of this is going to change. I still truly believe that, by the time some of you try to log in at the start of 6.1, you're going to be in for a nasty surprise. It's called a DDoS. If the RMT don't flood the lottery system, that's the next thing they're going to try.

* So let me get this straight:

If I have another person/party/alliance/entire PvP team who refuses to try to do anything to clear/win the content, what are my legal in-game options?? (I've done several of these, but these appear ALL to be illegal under the Terms...)

-- Go off somewhere, let them chase their butterflies, AFK, check the news on the web, make sure I fake some degree of movement so the Duty timeout doesn't trigger, etc.

-- Demand if they don't like my style of play to forcibly remove/kick me from the duty?

-- Leave on it's own merit (which is ALSO against the ToS!)...

-- Or is my only legal option NOT TO PLAY THE CONTENT AT ALL, Square-Enix?

You have, thence, created legal obstruction by the these trolls and lolcats who can dictate to us what content we can do (If any!! -- there are now people who believe they may need to Party Finder among "goods" to actually even play the 6.0 dungeons and trials!!) and under what conditions.

Isn't that also illegal under the ToS as well, SE? Or is that OK, as long as "enough people" are like this that they have at least the sanction of the Community behind them?

I've already had to report one person because they were deciding they didn't like my pull speed as tank, I struggled (and stated as such) that I was having trouble, under the new rules, stating openly they needed to stop (since they already felt the need to pull excessively (IMHO), any reasonable recourse was pretty much out the door -- confirmed when one of them said they hoped the next group would respect my feefees...).

Congratulations, SE. I'm losing another account. The only question is where, when, and to whom. You also have made sure I am going to delay purchase of Endwalker to effectively the last feasible time before Early Access. I was already having doubts I was not going to run afoul of the GMs before 6.0 hits, and that's $40 down the drain.

Yes, for some of us, it IS that difficult -- but you have now, not only given them license to corrupt gameplay experiences. You've given them authority to do so as long as it is large enough of a group to bake it into the culture and community.

Thanks.

I pull a lot, if the healer asks me to slow down I do immediately. If they appear to struggle, or apologize I pull less with a smile and Np! If the healer asks me to pull more it's on like donkey kong. Aside for that, I mainly just quietly pay attention to what's going on with the group, tank ( if I'm healing) Healer ( if I'm tanking) but if I'm dps. I ASSume wall to wall every time. If it is a dungeon I know I may struggle with I'll let the tank do them and see how THEY adjust. An ASS? Bounce

PVP is a really double edged sword for me.
You KNOW there will always be some pricks talking shit. Thankfully the real players in the community (for the most part) keep it silent and just keep killing and keep quiet. BUT, there are always those med ability players that got battle high 5 a couple times and think they are pro level spouting evil diarrhea in shout. More often than not it's not as bad as it was in the past. In regards to WIN TRADING...F*&K THAT. That shit is SO infuriating. Save

that for feast. But in frontlines which is suppose to be fun, and always a crap shoot how your group is to have an entire alliance just simply feed another alliance...is unbearable. Although equally frustrating to see tome people standing around afk or just riding around doing bare minimal it is the price we pay for quick que times. Should there be penalty of no tomes for losing? NO. We just recently have seen Rival Wings fire back up again from the dust of obscurity. Frontlines popping off, we

need that momentum to continue to keep those alive. Does it pain me to see leaches? DAM RIGHT. Just like back in Eureka farming Cassie and seeing 15-30 afk while a group of us was trying our ass off to get her to spawn then those same peeps just appear and pull immediately like they had any involvement. So yea, that part is totally frustrating but it's sadly part of the game (society ME MORE IMPORTANT) mentality.

Lolo: Tank pulling is going to become an actionable situation. There's going to have a full expectation of whether single-pulling is even ToS-legal, and I'm not even sure it's going to be 6.0 before they have to make that decision. As someone has already pointed out, it can be considered Obstruction to single-pull when a wall-to-wall is possible because of playstyle (even though Playstyle Enforcement is also illegal), regardless of why the tank did it.

Hel Sonofraiser

Leviathan [Primal]

Lolo (PvP): The problem is not the people who talk shit, necessarily. It's the people who intentionally go in there, disregard all feasible positive action to win the fight, then you look up and you 1600 point match is 800-750-50. (Yes, I had one like that, I think two days ago now.) And no one's listening -- no one CARES TO listen. They are THROWING THE MATCH. If I can't bitch em out, and I can't AFK, and I can't leave (I'll address that in a sec), my only option is not to queue?

Hel Sonofraiser

Leviathan [Primal]

Lolo (Losers Get Zero): I'm not exactly sure how you enforce valid participation (read: not throwing the match, which see 800-750-50, or sometimes 800-200-200, and you can figure pretty quickly what's going on) in such an event.

(Leaving) I am aware that a European GM has already said the punishment is for deliberate force-disconnect. Wait... Doesn't that fall under Obstruction, especially if you're the only Healer queueing at about 4 AM???

Siren [Aether]

As for all the "New Rules". I guess my pea brain can not process the details in full. I basically read "we will change things so the RMT can figure another way to annoy the hell out of you, just not AS blatant"
I know the theoretical thought process, and trust me I appreciate like hell NOT to have the old days of /t sent to me constantly RMT things, I almost hung up my axe when that shit was on the Reg. But sadly like you indicated RMT will find another way to exploit. Such is the way.

Hel Sonofraiser

Leviathan [Primal]

(RMT) The problem with that is that it is clear that much of the current mentality is to gate Housing to RMT where you have to pay to play -- as in real money pay to play, either botting the process, buying the gil for the property, buying the property with RL money, etc. The entire market is effectively flippers (those who do so "legitimately" are reporting having to participate in this idiocy for 60-80-100 hours (total) on end -- and hence aren't really getting much property at alL!)

Lolo Menehune

Siren [Aether]

Hel, if SE steps in on single pack pulls there will be a significant drop in player base. How many newbie tanks have you healed that felt pressure to pull multiple mobs only to fail, get flustered ect.
I'm guilty of pushing some tanks to "keep going", but I've tried to get better about it as I remember how I was starting off tanking. If a new tank suffering from Tankxiety is trying to find their footing and is Reported...I mean come on. However lets flip it...you're a new healer and a i530 tank

Hel Sonofraiser

Leviathan [Primal]

You don't think that playerbase drop is not what the "goods" WANT?

You don't think they want a lot of the people who are "bads" (like myself) out of the picture completely??

There's one person on the Forums who has, as their sig another saying: "Expecting good mechanics is toxic now???"

To wit the answer to that question is: Not only YES, but, OFFICIALLY YES.

A drop of the bads from the playerbase is exactly what a lot of these people want -- the only other alternative is PF-only for them

Lolo Menehune

Siren [Aether]

is pulling all of Tam Tam. Does that healer have a correct stance in reporting the tank for big pulls? They after all in a "learning dungeon". They may not be comfortable with that much pressure yet. Let's ASSume the tank realizes that is too much and adjusts to smaller pulls and the dps "report" that tank for single pack pulls? Can the DPS now be justified in reporting the tank?

Hel Sonofraiser

Leviathan [Primal]

And on the flip side, if the tank decides to manipulate the rules, they can report the healer for failing to heal!

And yes, you can get that other scenario too. That's exactly what I am not surprised happened with the one I mentioned in the post itself, who decided to go ahead, pull anyway, and I'm struggling to find a way to tell them to knock it the Hell off. I'm the freaking tank, I set the pace.

This is why there are those talking Trusts/PF only for 6.0 content now.

Lolo Menehune

Siren [Aether]

I am of the stance Hel, if you ATTEMPT to learn
All jobs: learn what EVERY ability you acquire does, proper use of it.
All jobs: Learn about your secondary abilities how they augment your core skills/ when to utilize them.
Tank: How to do the above, keep aggro/ Position the mobs / Cooldowns/ Heard mobs back in/ Supply dps/
Healer: KNOW what your toolkit does/manage mana/ DPs/ keep people alive/
DPS> WHAT FLASHING BUTTONS MAKE THINGS MELT FASTER/ know how/when to AOE/Stay outofshit

Hel Sonofraiser

Leviathan [Primal]

Who determines "proper use"? That's kind of the whole problem here. Many of these people believe only optimal use is "proper use"

Lolo Menehune

Siren [Aether]

I've been in multiple situations, good, terrible, bit of both. I think it's luck of the draw which one you will fall within. I will continue to roll the dice on randoms, bitch about the bad, log out over the terrible, praise the good. BUT, I will not allow others to dictate how I play the game. Should I be issued a report for something unjust I'll just take my penalty, unsub, work out more, touch more grass, and maybe that will be a good thing?

Lolo Menehune

Siren [Aether]

I don't know how to answer that Hel, I gave very mild expectations of others. I know I can no more control you than you can control me. I make sure I am doing what I feel is going to benefit the team I've been given. If my rotation is inadequate, or not exact I will stay out of Raiding/Ultimates. If my game play is not appropriate for Extremes I personally will self improve until I MYSELF feel competent. If my wall to wall pulls are not good for the team I'll improve until they are.

Lolo Menehune

Siren [Aether]

So the only way I can answer that is stating, Myself, of myself. How my random teammates act/ perform is beyond my control. Even if I wish more of them I can only control what I do. If I see AOE used on a single target, or single target on 4 mobs, or no healer dps ect ect...I can gently as if they are aware. If they snap back I keep pushing.

Lolo Menehune

Siren [Aether]

And when I say Keep pushing...I keep quietly pushing forward until the instance has been completed.
