Training Chocobo

Public
Hi everyone

The contents of this blog were previously written in Japanese for my Japanese friends. Recently, an English-speaking member joined my FC. So I've translated it into English to explain to him.
I am not good at English, so I wrote this text using a machine translation. I'm sorry if my English is wrong.
If this blog will be useful for someone, I'm happy.

1. Until training chocobo
Chocobo is the first mount. You get in exchange for company seals from the Grand Company. If you don't get the Chocobo, you can't ride any other mounts except the Chocobo Porter.

It's just a mount by itself. But if you complete the Lv.30 Gridanian Sidequests 'My Feisty Little Chocobo', you can use your chocobo as a 'Companion' when fighting in fiel. As the chocobo grows with experience, it will learn skills and become stronger as a companion.

2. Training Chocobo
In addition to fighting, you can also train your chocobo at 'Chocobo Stable'. To train a chocobo, you need to complete the Lv.30 Gridanian Sidequests 'Bird in Hand'.
The requirements for this quest are...
>You must have completed the Lv.30 Gridanian Sidequests 'My Feisty Little Chocobo'.
>FC you belong to has an FC house, or you have a private house or apartment.

Chocobo experience is shown in the companion's detail screen with the number indicating your chocobo's rank and an orange bar indicating the experience value.

(1) Rank Up
When the orange bar fills up on the right side, you will no longer gain experience in training. The number indicating rank will also turn orange.
The rank number turn orange, need runk up. To move up to the next rank, take out a chocobo and fight with it as a companion. It's okay to kill low-level monster, as long as you get a little experience.
If chocobo get experience of fight, the higher your chocobos rank will be.
The rank number will return to white, and the orange bar will disappear. The orange will grow to the right again as you gain experience through combat and training.

(2) Rank limit
Initially, the maximum rank of a chocobo is 10. If you train your chocobo in 'Thanvairian Onion' after it has reached rank 10, the maximum rank can be increased by 1. When you raise the maximum rank, you will gain experience again. You can increase your rank to 20.

(3) How to do it at rank 10 and above
Rank 10 and above is a little different. In particular, Thanvairian Onion needed to raise the rank are expensive, so I will explain in detail how to avoid wasting them.

<Step1>
The rank number will turn orange.
At this time, the orange bar is displayed until it reaches the right edge. If you reach the upper limit of your rank during a battle, you will be in the state of Step2(The rank number is orange, and the experience bar is not orange).

<Step2>
You take chocobo out as a companion to gain experience in battle.
The orange on the experience bar will disappear as your chocobo rank increases. However, the rank number will still be orange. The orange number indicates that your chocobo have reached maximum rank. Your chocobo will not receive any more experience in battle or training.

<Step3>
If you train with Thanvairian Onion in the state of Step2, your rank limit will be raised.
The rank number will turn white and your chocobo will start to receive experience again. The orange bar will start to grow.

<Step4>
When the orange bar reaches the right end, you will be able to repeat the process from step1.

<Step5>
Your chocobo can increase chocobo's rank up to 20.
Once your chocobo have reached the maximum rank of 20, the rank up will end when your chocobo add the experience from the battle.
At this point, if you spend all your chocobo's SP, your chocobo should be able to learn all 30 skills. No more ranks can be increased by giving Thanvairian Onion.

Ranked up to 20.

Let me get this straight...
>When the rank number is white, your chocobo get experience in both battle and training.
>When the rank number is orange, your chocobo can't get experience in training, your chocobo has to get experience in battle.
>When the rank number is orange without an orange bar, your chocobo has reached rank limit. And will not receive any experience from either battle or training.
>Your chocobo can raise rank limit by training with Thanvairian Onion.
>The maximum rank is 20.

(*) Chocobo training can be performed on other players' chocobos. It is possible to add experience. However, If you give Thanvairian Onion to another player's chocobo, it will have no effect.
(*) For players who don't have a House, there is information that you can give Thanvairian Onion in the field. I haven't actually tried it, so I haven't confirmed it yet.

3. About Chocobo's skills
There are three types of skills. 'DEFENDER', 'HEALER', and 'ATTACKER'. There are 10 skills in each type. Your chocobo can acquire skills by consuming skill points (SP) that you gain as your chocobo's experience increases. If your chocobo has consumed all the SP until you reach rank 20, your chocobo can acquire all the skills. It's up to you which skill you want to acquire first. I think it's better to start with HEALER.

Each type of skill is an achievement reward. Chocobo armor (3 types) can be obtained for each skill type. They will be automatically added to your chocobo Appearance.

4. Condition of Chocobo Stable (cleaning)
Chocobo Stable in the house and Chocobo Stable in the apartment have the same function. You can use them to train your chocobo. But the training results will differ depending on the condition of Chocobo Stable.
Assuming that the experience gained when the Chocobo Stable is 'clean' is 100…When the chocobo house is 'normal', the experience is 80, and when it's 'dirty', it's 60.
 When it's not 'clean', you can use Magicked Stable Broom to clean it. If your chocobo is rank 10 over and your Chocobo Stable is not 'clean', you may not be able to get experience from training.

5. How to change the color of a chocobo's feathers
You can change the color of chocobo's feathers by giving it fruits. For more information on how to change the color, please refer to the following website.
Dyeing a chocobo's feathers is a process of changing the color code from the current color to the desired color using fruits. The amount of change depends on the type of fruits, so you can combine them to get the color you want. You need to change the color within the range of the color code. It is necessary to give the required amount of fruits alternately.
In addition, the degree of color change varies with probability. It may not be exactly as calculated. Repeat the process several times to get closer to the desired color.
Fruits for dyeing feathers can be bought at the market or grown by obtaining seeds from Hunt Billmaster.

6. Chocobo's favorite fruits
(I don't tested about favorite fruits effect)
If you keep giving your chocobo certain fruits during training, they may become its favorite fruits. If you give him a favorite fruits, it will give him a certain buff effect during battle.
Krakka Root are not able to favorite. But there are several other types of fruits that can be used for training. (Pahsana Fruit, etc.)

(*) Favorites fruits effect only occur when training your own chocobo. If you give it to another player's chocobo, that chocobo will only receive training experience.
