People say the SMN should have never been a DoT class. They insult me or belittle me for caring about DoTs at all when I played it. They say SMN should only summon, and that's it. That's its identity. But in 14 lots of classes summon. DRK summons a shadow. Ninja summons a frog monster. MCH summons a gynoid. So if all Summoner is supposed to do is summon, why do so many other classes summon and do so much more. Maybe it was okay to have summoner summon AND use poison. Especially if there is not gonna be any DoT class.
When SMNs weren't forced to main heal in FFXI, summoning was all they did, but I doubt these are FFXI vets giving you crap about 14's SMN.
Frankly I do think DoTs are silly in general. They create unecessary pressure and what not.
I'm not saying everyone should have DoTs. I'm just saying some people, like me used them and relied on them in how we survive soloing. Especially during FATEs. All I ask if that if they rip them away from one class at least let there be a class I could use that still uses lots of ailment spreading.
I think SMN will be so strong that you'll be able to solo fates.
We'll see. Maybe.
I just wish there was also a DoT class. At least one for people who like showering for in ailments. I main Ninja, Summoner, and Machinist. I'm gonna just put on all best gear I can and stop experimenting with other classes and re-learn SMN.
