Hi, I was wondering if I could get some advice on talking to people in this game. This is my first MMO and just started playing yesterday. For some reason I get really nervous when people would try to talk to me and I'm not sure how to respond to people's friend requests or free company invites. I don't know if it's because I don't know them or that I'm kind of introverted or because this is my first MMO. I'm not trying to be rude to anybody, I'm just getting nervous and don't know what to do. I'd be really grateful if someone can give advice on how to handle this.
P.S, If you're someone who sent me a friend request, free company invite, or was trying to talk to me, I'm sorry if I seemed rude. Wasn't my intent, I was just shy for some reason.
It's best to just ignore random FC invites. Any FC that does that isn't worth the time.
Course the only way you'll get over the anxiety is talking to people more, so make a few friends and try to participate in some conversation! I do suggest finding an FC that fits you, it's the easiest way to make friends.
Those FC invites were from companies that see you don't have one. If you want to join a FC now, I recommend looking at their stats. Members online is the most important imo. An FC is not very helpful if they don't have active members. XD Just a head's up tho-you will encounter jerks in this game, like any other mmo, but most are friendly and helpful...especially if you're a shy catgirl. Just saying.

Chat with folks on the Lodestone for help. It does wonders for all manner of different humans to communicate. It helped me find friends and a Free Company full of really helpful people to enjoy my time with!

It's easy to get intimidated by all the people spamming you with fc invites. I think the best way to meet people is to just join in when people are doing something fun-- dancing, emoting, hopping around on mounts, etc. There are also social linkshells you can join! Sometimes it's as simple as a "o/" and "thank you" in duties, and cracking a joke or two when something happens. You'll get the hang of it soon \o/ (And you're more than welcome to say hi to me if you see me around Lamia ^^)
