So, I decided to be nice and help someone try and clear Memoria this afternoon. The PF said 3rd phase/clear, so I figured, yeah, 30 minutes tops since people hopefully were experienced in it. Wellll, that turned out NOT to be the case for we ended up with a couple of total newbies to it including the other healer. (We were kind of desperate for people, so could not be picky)
Sigh, it was rough, VERY rough. The newbies keep dying, and dying, and DYING, over, and over, and OVER again. And the fact that one was one of the healers meant failing at places where healers needed to be alive.
I was KIND of annoyed, but also sympathetic, for I remembered my learning experiences and the ton of messups I did to learn the fight. He did not do anything that I hadn't done lots when learning, so I was patient, VERY patient. I explained to him what he had to do as a healer and tried to correct his mistakes. Slowly, but OH SOOOO slowly he learned it bit by bit. There was even discord to help with callouts, but it was still slow going.
But even with the Echo, it took over a hour and a half to finally get the clear on the VERY last pull we were going to do. By then people were tired and doing stupid stuff. But with a it of luck, (and me not dying till the VERY end because SOMEONE was in my clock space), he finally died and people got their 1st clear. (21'st for me)
Afterwards, they thanked me for being so patient and helping them learn and clear it. I mean, I am glad I was able to help them, but MAN that was very long and tiring. I think it might be a while before I do that again.
It's nice to be important, but more important to be nice.
Yeah, but more time consuming. ;p
I'm impressed! I wouldn't have lasted that long, if only because my bad shoulder would have started cramping up.
Stuff like this reminds me of that book, yknow, the Giving Tree, and what the real aesop of that story should have been - that if we want to be able to keep on helping people and being nice, we have protect our resources. It's totally fine to peace out before you run out of energy (and I'm saying that half because I need to remind myself lol).
LOL, you're not wrong Lalli. ;p
That DID expend a lot of energy as well as time.
But I am hoping it built a bit of karma too for when I am trying to learn something and someone who's an veteran decides to join to help learn and clear it. ;-)
stuff like that can be annoying. i usually try to watch a video before i go into new content just so i know what to look out for
