Yesterday I saw a PF for a synced Ifrit EX Blue Mage run to get the bonus and achievement. I decided to join to see how hard it was with an all Blu party.

Now I have done synced Ifrit EX runs before and have two clears on it, one healer, one DPS. It is not too difficult if you know the mechanics, more specifically, searing wind, how it works and what you need to do when you get it. Searing wind will usually hit a healer and that healer needs to stay as FAR away from everyone else so they are not hit with the constant AOE pulse coming from them. Just do that, keep the DPS's alive so they kill the nails fast, and don't over DPS Ifrit, and the fight is not too hard.


Now saying that.......

It was NOT a pretty sight having all blues do it. Oh it was fine for the first few moments, Ifrit's health dropped pretty quickly, but once searing wind appeared things went south. People just did NOT know how to handle it well. You see, part of the problem is that ALL blue mages can cast heals and those heals attract searing wind. So it ends up jumping from person to person depending on who is healing lots. So that pulse is hitting people and killing them. Dead people equal less DPS for the nails and eventually it catches up with you, especially on the 3rd round of nails where there is a LOT of them.

The party tried to control it with making a marker and telling people if they have it to stand there and it helped some. But there is also the fact that if someone falls, there might not be a rez for you, since the thing is on a 5 min timer and not everyone has it since it is hard to get.

So the whole fight usually ended up being who could avoid searing wind the best and avoid damage while not healing TOO much and trying to kill those nails quickly as people starting falling making it harder and harder to do so.

Yeah, I went through 5 attempts before I had to go do to family stuff, so I don't know if they ever figured out how to eventually keep enough people alive to beat it.
